My herons with driftwood bodies have been very popular. They’re available when I’ve had time to scour the beaches, looking for pieces of wood with just the right shape and texture.
Driftwood herons range in height from two to six feet, and prices range from $70 to $450. All prices are in Canadian dollars. Shipping is extra.
After many years of being a teacher and woodworker, I turned my hand to sculpture when I began to work with steel, found objects, and the driftwood and stone I collect on the beaches of southern Vancouver Island. Each creation has a unique personality expressed through the tilt of the head, the bend in the leg, or the glint of an eye.

The Sculptures
Each piece is created from carefully selected wood and stone. The steel is lacquered but it will rust if kept outdoors. This can be prevented by applying a thicker finish, though I recommend allowing it to age naturally and gracefully. I also use stainless steel, which is more expensive but does withstand the elements.
